In the month of November, Gautam Buddha Nagar traffic police has issued around 2,51,398 e-challans which accumulates to an average of 349 challans per hour. These proactive steps have been taken under the Special Traffic Awareness Campaign that took place for the entire month of November. This Special Traffic Awareness Campaign was initiated by Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh on November 1. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav mentioned that the campaign was launched with the aim to focus on educating citizens about traffic guidelines and ensuring compliance with traffic rules by road users.
However, this alarming increase in the number of challans issued has led the Gautam Buddha Nagar traffic police to implement stricter rules for the safety and security of the citizens of the district. As per a report by jagran.com, if a driver now receives more than three consecutive challans, their information will be forwarded to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for the suspension of their driving licence. Furthermore, in cases of repeated traffic rule violations and non-compliance continues then their vehicle registrations will also be cancelled. The provision includes the suspension of driving licences for offences such as overspeeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving in the opposite direction and running red lights.
These rules will initially be applied to drivers with vehicles registered in Gautam Buddha Nagar and the suspension period for their driving licences is set at three months. These stringent measures are part of the efforts by the traffic police to reduce road accidents in the district by 50% with an emphasis on creating awareness to promote safer driving practices.

In 2023, a total of 280 driving licences were suspended in Gautam Buddha Nagar with 80 per cent of them being related to speeding offences. These violations include speeding, driving on the wrong side, talking on a mobile phone while driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and running red lights. Additionally, licences are being suspended for exceeding the vehicle's luggage capacity.
As per the new regulations, if a driving licence is suspended twice, the third violation of traffic rules results in the cancellation of the licence. Currently, no driving licence has been cancelled under this provision. However, once a driving licence is cancelled, it cannot be renewed while permanently depriving the driver of the right to drive.
