Ola Zero Commission: Ola is one of India’s leading cab ride platforms, and recently, it announced a Zero Commission Model for its drivers. The company has more than 1 million driver-partners, and this decision is expected to directly benefit them by allowing them to retain 100 per cent of fares without any cap on ride volumes or income. However, there’s a catch, as drivers would need to subscribe to a daily or monthly pass.
Ola Zero Commission: Significance
The Ola Zero Commission decision is a very significant move, as it marks a new shift for ride-hailing companies. Most of the riding platforms use the commission-based model as their earning, and this would be the first time that they can use a Subscription as a Service (SaaS) model. Ola claims that it is the first and only ride platform in India that uses a SaaS model.
Ola Zero Commission: The Subscription
The new model introduced by Ola would require the drivers to buy a subscription plan to enjoy zero commission on each of their rides. For example, drivers can opt for a daily pass to earn unlimited, and they will not have to pay the commission on each ride they complete. The company has not yet disclosed the charges for the subscription under the new plan. Currently, most of the riding platforms across the country use the commission-based model, which typically deducts 20 to 30 per cent of the fare on each ride completed by the driver-partner.
