Skoda Auto Volkswagen India: Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL), which oversees the Indian operations of Bentley, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Skoda, and Volkswagen, has crossed the landmark 20 lakh (2 million) unit production mark from across its two manufacturing plants – one in Pune and the other in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar/Aurangabad. This marks a major milestone for the Czech automaker’s 25 years of operations in India and comes after the auto industry posted its strongest momentum in October 2025.
Skoda Auto drove past the 15 lakh (1.5 million) unit production milestone in March 2022, while the most recent 5 lakh vehicles were produced over the last three and a half years. And more than 5 lakh units based on the company's made-in-India MQB-A0-IN platform have been manufactured so far. These are the Skoda Kushaq, Kylaq, and the Slavia, as well as the Volkswagen Taigun and the Virtus. SAVWIPL attributed the success to the growing customer trust and investment in localisation.

Exports – The Critical Force Behind the Milestone
The 20 lakh-unit production milestone reflects the growing popularity of SAVWIPL's products not just in the domestic market but also in the export market. With over 7 lakh units exported to markets across Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, exports made up a significant portion, underscoring their crucial role in boosting the company's fortunes.
How Did Brands Fare Individually?
Individually, Skoda Auto registered its strongest year to date, with 61,607 units sold in the first ten months of 2025. Volkswagen India, on the other hand, hit a record high with the highest monthly sales of the Virtus sedan during Diwali.
