Skoda's Compact SUV: Czech automaker Skoda India is gearing up to join the fiercely competitive sub-4-metre SUV segment in India. The sub-4-metre SUV segment currently includes Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and more. Skoda India recently announced its plans to enter the compact SUV segment in India and now spy shots of Skoda's compact SUV undergoing testing have surfaced, revealing details about the upcoming model.
Skoda's Compact SUV - Design
From what can be seen in the spy shots, the test mule of Skoda's compact SUV showcases wraparound LED tail-lights, a spoiler-mounted brake light and non-functional roof rails. Notable styling elements include a split-headlight setup with slim LED Daytime Running Lamps along with Skoda's signature grille.
Skoda's Compact SUV - Platform
Skoda's compact SUV will be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform shared with the Kushaq. The compact SUV will feature a slightly shorter wheelbase of 2,566mm, compared to the Kushaq's 2,651mm. It is also expected to feature smaller wheels than the Kushaq's 16- and 17-inch alloys.
Skoda's Compact SUV - Powertrain
Skoda has confirmed that the compact SUV will exclusively house a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that will generate 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. This powertrain will be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter.
Skoda's Compact SUV - Price
Skoda aims for a competitive price range of approximately Rs 9 lakh to Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom), aligning with its competitors. After its official launch, the sub-compact SUV will enter the competitive segment in India, where it will compete with popular models such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Punch and Kia Sonet.

Skoda's Compact SUV - Launch
Skoda's upcoming compact SUV is anticipated to launch in India in March 2025, with plans for export to various markets including South America, South-East Asia, and Africa. Volkswagen and Skoda, being part of the same parent company, have similar products in their lineup in the country. However, it remains unclear if Volkswagen will also introduce a compact SUV model in India.
