Suzuki Motors is working on manufacturing its inaugural flying car, a concept first unveiled by Maruti Suzuki at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit earlier this year. Suzuki Motor in collaboration with Japan-based flying car startup SkyDrive is at the forefront of development of an all-electric autonomous Skycar. This Skycar will be produced in Suzuki's facilities in Iwata City and the manufacturer aims to create flying cars that double as air taxis, particularly targeting urban areas.

The flying car prototype showcased in India serves as a glimpse into the ongoing manufacturing process at Suzuki's Japan facility. Designed to take off and land on building rooftops, the Skycar boasts autonomous capabilities. This Suzuki Skycar is scheduled to debut at an expo in Osaka, Japan, in 2025.
Aligned with Suzuki's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, the flying car project underscores the brand's dedication to practical air mobility solutions. With a targeted annual production capacity of up to 100 units, Suzuki is determined to make air travel more accessible. The Skycar, offering a 15-minute flight time covering approximately 15 kilometres, accommodates two passengers and operates using 12 motors and rotors, achieving a top cruising speed of 100 kmph.

In the future, Suzuki envisions an evolved version of the flying car by 2031, capable of accommodating three passengers and boasting an extended range of 40 kilometres. Furthermore, the company is eyeing the Indian market for the introduction of flying cars. By tapping into India's rich engineering ecosystem, Suzuki aims to make use of local talent and technology to accelerate its flying car endeavours. However, concrete timelines for the deployment of flying cars in India remain undisclosed.
Suzuki's foray into flying car manufacturing marks a significant leap towards sustainable urban mobility solutions. With innovative technology and strategic partnerships, the brand is poised to revolutionise air travel, paving the way for a future where flying cars seamlessly integrate into everyday transportation.
