Tata Motors has partnered with Amazon to provide Alexa services integrated into four SUV models: Tata Nexon, Tata Nexon EV, Tata Harrier, and Tata Safari. The SUVs continue to have their own voice command system but the addition of Alexa will introduce new possibilities for voice-controlled interactions such as voice to vehicle and vehicle to home application.
The Alexa voice-command system integrated into Tata SUVs can understand inputs in English, Hindi or even in Hinglish. Customers can use voice commands for various tasks such as changing the temperature, changing airflow settings, changing screen brightness and to open or close the sunroof. The Alexa can also be used to control the 360-degree surround view camera. Moreover, the Alexa voice-command will also enable customers to use entertainment features such as selecting and changing songs and listen to audiobooks on Audible. This feature also allows control over Alexa-compatible smart devices both at home and in office spaces, providing a broader range of voice-controlled functionalities.
Addressing this, Sven Patuschka, VP & CTO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd said,“We are delighted to collaborate with Amazon to bring intelligent connected technologies like 'Alexa' into our new generation vehicles. While safety remains key, the advent of connected tech features is a fast-growing requirement of our customers and users. With this introduction our intent has been clearly towards making our customer's drive experience more convenient and an extension of their homes.”
