Tata Motors recently launched the facelifted Nexon and Nexon.ev in India which created a lot of buzz in the automotive industry. Now, post the launch of these SUVs, Tata is gearing up to launch the EV version of its popular compact-SUV model, Tata Punch. The Tata Punch.ev has recently been spotted testing, revealing some information about this upcoming Tata EV.
Tata Punch.ev - Interiors
In the cabin, it is expected that the Tata Punch.ev will borrow some features from the new Nexon.ev, such as the all new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo and a much larger 12.3 inch infotainment screen.

Tata Punch.ev - Exteriors
On the exterior, the spy shots reveal that the most notable changes included an LED headlamp set-up in the front, which is not available on the standard petrol-powered Punch, and the charging socket for the EV will be placed on the front bumper of the car. Along with this, it is also expected that the car might get a new alloy-wheel design. Though, there is no confirmation on whether the Punch.ev will get a sunroof feature.
Tata Punch.ev - Powertrain
The Punch.ev will come with the brand’s exclusive Ziptron powertrain and will be built on the ALFA platform with Tata’s Gen-2 EV architecture. It will be equipped with a liquid-cooled battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor. It is fair to assume that the Punch.ev will also get two battery options, similar to the other EVs offered by Tata.
The Punch EV is set to compete with the Citroen eC3 in India, targeting a market position below the Nexon EV MR but above the Tiago EV hatchback. Tata is planning to launch the Punch.ev as an SUV option, complimenting the Tigor.ev sedan in Tata’s lineup of electric vehicles.
