Tata Sierra Variants Explained: At long last, the iconic Tata Sierra, India's first lifestyle SUV, has been revived. Priced at Rs 11.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom), the Sierra goes against the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Victoris in the mid-size SUV segment, and is positioned above the Curvv coupe-SUV in Tata's product lineup. The newly launched SUV retains its boxy proportions and upright stance, while combining the old Sierra-inspired design elements with modernised features such as a connected LED light strip and flush door handles.

Tata Sierra: Engine, Output

Under the hood, the new Sierra ICE gets three 1.5-litre engine options: a 105bhp naturally aspirated petrol, a 158bhp turbocharged petrol, and a 116bhp diesel unit. The last one has been borrowed from the Currvv coupe-SUV, which slots below the newly launched Sierra SUV in terms of market positioning. Gearbox options include 6-speed automatic, 6-speed manual, and 7-speed DCT. While the Sierra is currently offered in a front-wheel-drive setup, Tata plans to bring an all-wheel-drive setup in the near future.
