Tesla Model Y is an all-electric compact SUV, and it is the brand’s highest-selling model globally. The Model Y is offered in two variants globally: the standard variant with a 60 kWh LFP battery, and the Long Range/performance variant with a 75 kWh NMC battery. The standard variants have a claimed range of up to 499 kilometers once fully charged. Whereas the Long Range/performance variants have a claimed range of up to 622 kilometers.

Earlier, the brand was expected to set up a manufacturing plant in the country, but recent reports suggest that it will import its cars, spare parts, and superchargers from its Gigafactory based in Shanghai, China. Each Model Y unit costs 42,490 dollars (approx. Rs 36.54 lakhs), and it will attract freight costs and import duties worth Rs 6.21 lakhs. Thus, each unit of the Model Y is expected to have a cost of Rs 42.75 lakhs (Ex-showroom).
