Royal Enfield Taurus

The Royal Enfield Taurus is not just popular for its mileage, but it is also known as the only commercially produced diesel bike in India, to date. The Royal Enfield Taurus was introduced in the country in 1991, and it was discontinued in 2001. The bike was equipped with a 325cc single-cylinder diesel engine, which was paired to a 4-speed gearbox. The bike had a claimed mileage of up to 92 kmpl.

Royal Enfield Taurus: Why Was It Discontinued?

The Royal Enfield Taurus was discontinued in the year 2001, as it failed to meet the emission norms at that time. There were some underlying issues with the bike itself. The bike had a very less powerful engine, and it had a lot of vibrations as well. Also, the bike used to produce a lot of smoke, and due to its diesel engine, it was hard for the user to start it in cold weather.
