India is the world’s largest two-wheeler market, and many people use their two-wheeler vehicles on highways to cover long distances. Currently, two-wheeler owners are not required to pay toll tax in the country. However, several media reports published recently suggested that two-wheeler owners in the country may need to pay toll tax from the coming months.

Toll Tax For Two Wheelers: ‘False Rumors’
Nitin Gadkari shared an official post in response to such media reports. Gadkari’s post on X read ‘Some media houses are sharing false reports of two-wheelers being charged toll tax. No such decision has been proposed, and the toll tax exemption for two-wheelers will be continued. Sharing false rumors to create buzz without knowing the truth is not healthy journalism. I criticize this.’

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s tweet went viral within hours of being posted on the social media platform X. Gadkari shared his response at 2:15 PM in the noon and the tweet has accumulated more than 73 thousand views by the time of writing this story. People are sharing comments and screenshots of the media reports in the comments section. Many comments on the post read ‘Information Shouldn’t Be Shared Without Checking The Facts’.
