Japanese automobile giant Toyota is in the works to introduce a performance oriented variant of the GR Supra. It is expected that this performance oriented variant will be called the Supra GRMN as the GR in the standard Supra stands for Gazoo Racing while the GRMN means ‘Gazoo Racing tuned by the Meister of the Nürburgring’. Nürburgring is arguably one of the greatest race tracks in the world.

Toyota Supra GRMN - Powertrain
The new Toyota Supra was recently spotted testing while being camouflaged at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Germany. In terms of performance, the new Supra is expected to replace the BMW sourced, Z4 ‘B58’ straight-six engine with the ‘S58’ powertrain that is equipped with the M-specific twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine that is used in the M3 and M4. This engine uses single-scroll units and features a revised piston design with a larger bore and shorter stroke. This engine is tuned to produce multiple power outputs ranging from 450 bhp to 550 bhp. It is likely that Toyota might use a detuned version of that same engine that is currently used in the BMW M2 that generates a power output of 453 bhp.
Toyota has made sure that no details about the new Supra have been revealed. However, it is expected that if it comes equipped with the S58 powertrain, it will be able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 4.3 seconds which is the 0-100 km/h time for the current iteration of the car.

The ‘Gazoo Racing tuned by the Meister of the Nürburgring’ name of the Toyota Supra has only been used in Europe currently and there is no confirmation on this information yet. It is also expected that the dimensions and the chassis of the car will also be altered to make it powerful. The Toyota Supra currently shares its structure with the BMW Z4 which has also launched again this year after bringing in some modifications to its design cues as well in the mechanical specifications.
