Volkswagen Tayron India: Speculations of Volkswagen re-entering the premium 3-row SUV segment are quite high as the Tayron, a 7-seater by the brand, was spotted testing in India recently. The now-discontinued Tiguan Allspace was the last premium 3-row SUV on offer from the brand. Let’s take a closer look at the Volkswagen Tayron’s features, engine, and upcoming launch here.
Volkswagen Tayron: Features And Interior
The Volkswagen Tayron was undisguised during its testing in India, but clear shots of the interior are not available currently. However, it is expected to get a cabin similar to the global model, which shares its resemblance with the currently available Tiguan. The global model of the premium 3-row SUV features a 15-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system and a 10.25-inch one for the instrument cluster. It comes loaded with features such as a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, 3-zone climate control, wireless mobile charger, along with a level-2 ADAS suite.

Volkswagen Tayron: Engine And Transmission
The Tayron shares its engine with its other siblings, as well as the newly launched Skoda Kodiaq in the country. The 7-seater premium SUV by Volkswagen draws its power from a 2-litre petrol engine, which churns out 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque. As for the transmission, the 3-row SUV gets a 7-speed DCA (dual-clutch automatic) transmission. The power is sent to all the wheels of the SUV.
Volkswagen Tayron: Design
The Tayron model spotted testing in the country shares its silhouette largely with the newly launched Tiguan R-Line. It features a sleek LED headlamp unit on the front with a black-grille, and an air curtain with a mesh pattern, and it looks close to the one we have seen on the Tiguan R-Line. It also gets the same 19-inch alloy wheels and rear bumper similar to the latter, but the taillight is slimmer and gets a different signature LED than the Tiguan R-Line.

Volkswagen Tayron India Launch
The Volkswagen Tayron is confirmed to enter India with the official launch happening by the end of this year. It should also be noted that the German brand will manufacture its premium 7-seater SUV at its Aurangabad Plant in India, while it imports the Tiguan R-Line as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). This also means that the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron can have a price tag more competitive than the Tiguan R-Line.
