100 Per Cent Ethanol Fuel Cost Per Litre: The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, recently announced that he has officially approved the regulations for E100 flex-fuel. The move has paved the way for India’s journey toward alternative flex-fuel types. We can expect the E100 fuel to be rolled out soon in the country. The pricing of the E100 fuel is one of the major concerns in the country. The government recently launched the E85 fuel, which is currently priced at Rs 82.12 per litre in the national capital. But do you know what the price of the E100 fuel in India could be? Here’s what to expect.
What Is E100 Fuel?
E100 is a rating used for a flex fuel type that comprises 100 per cent Ethanol. The letter E in the rating stands for Ethanol, whereas the number stands for the percentage of Ethanol. Similarly, E25 stands for a flex-fuel type that contains 25 per cent of Ethanol and 75 per cent of petrol. Following the success of India’s E20 programme, the government is now aiming to enhance its energy security by soon rolling out E22, E25, E27, E30, E85, and E100 fuel types across the country.

E100 Fuel Price: Government’s Take
Nitin Gadkari announced approving the regulations for E100 fuel during a press conference in Nagpur, Maharashtra. E100 fuel comprises 100 per cent of Ethanol and no petrol; this suggests that the fluctuation in global crude oil prices will not affect the prices of E100 fuel. During the press conference in Nagpur, Gadkari also stated that E100 fuel will be priced at around Rs 60 per litre in the country. Notably, only compatible flex-fuel vehicles will be able to run on E100 fuel, and using it in an incompatible car might result in irreversible damage to the engine.

E100 Fuel Price: What To Expect?
As mentioned earlier, the government recently launched the E85 fuel in Delhi with prices starting from Rs 82.12 per litre. It costs Rs 20 less than E20 petrol, which is currently priced at Rs 102.12 per litre in the national capital. With the remarks made by Nitin Gadkari, we can expect the E100 fuel to be priced between Rs 62 and Rs 68 per litre in the country.
