Xiaomi, a popular Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has unveiled its first-ever electric car in China. The Xiaomi EV is being referred to as the SU7 and is an electric sedan. Xiaomi has unveiled two variants of the SU7 - one featuring LiDAR and one without LiDAR. The SU7 will be available in three broad variants - SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max. 

Xiaomi Electric Vehicle - SU7; Performance, Battery and Specs

Talking about the powertrain and performance, Xiaomi has revealed that the SU7 will be available in both All-Wheel Drive powertrain and Rear-Wheel Drive powertrain. The AWD powertrain setup will include an electric motor that is placed on the (295 bhp) front axle and the (368 bhp) rear axle of the EV that will produce a combined power output of 663 bhp whereas the RWD powertrain configuration will position the electric motor on the rear axle of the EV that is tuned to produce 368 bhp of power. 

The SU7 will come equipped with different battery packs for different variants. The lower-level trims of the SU7 will come with a smaller LFP battery pack that has been sourced from BYD. On the other hand, the top-level variants of the SU7 will come equipped with a NMC battery pack that will be sourced from CATL, which is a Chinese battery manufacturer. 

The lower-level variants of the SU7 with the smaller battery pack will boast a total weight of 1,980 kg while the top-spec variants of the SU7 with the bigger battery pack will have a total weight of 2,205 kg. Moreover, Xiaomi has claimed that the lower variant of the SU7 will be able to achieve a top-speed of 210 km/h and the higher variant will boast a top-speed of 265 km/h.

Xiaomi plans to use their new operating system, Hyper OS in the Xiaomi SU7 which has recently been announced by the popular Chinese brand for their smartphones. So, there's a chance that Xiaomi's phones might be able to talk with cars running on Hyper OS.

Xiaomi Electric Vehicle - SU7; Launch Details 

Xiaomi has announced that the mass production of the SU7 electric car will begin in December and its deliveries rolling out from February 2024. The Beijing factory of BAIC, Xiaomi's partner, has already started testing the production process, with test vehicles already making their debut.
