Yamaha WR155R Spotted: Yamaha is expected to launch a new product in India on November 11, 2025. While details about this new launch are under wraps, speculation has been rife that the upcoming model could either be the XSR 155 modern-retro roadster or the NMax 155 maxi-scooter. Spy images of the former have been doing the rounds for about a month, but we have yet to see spy shots of the latter. Amidst all this, reports of the Yamaha WR 155R dual-sport bike spotted in India have surfaced online.
Yamaha WR155R Spotted: What Spy Shots Reveal?
Design
From the spy shots, we can say that Yamaha's dual-sport bike is an individual import, rather than a test mule. This is thanks to the model being ridden in Bengaluru without a front number plate and a saree guard, both of which are usually conspicuous on models undergoing test trials. Having said that, the test model in the signature Racing Blue livery features a temporary registration plate at the rear. It also gets a 'WR' decal across its fuel tank. Other design bits include a compact LED taillamp and an upswept exhaust system.

Hardware
Built on a semi-double-cradle frame, the WR 155R employs telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock for suspension. It is fitted with spoked wheels (21-inch front and 18-inch rear) with dual-purpose tyres. While not visible in the spy images, the test mule is likely to feature a digital dash.
Engine
Powering the bike is the same 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that powers the MT-15 and the R15. The engine, combined with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), delivers 16bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.3Nm at 6,500rpm in the international market. The test mule of the WR 155R has a 1,430mm wheelbase, a 245mm ground clearance, and an 880mm seat height.
Yamaha WR155R India Launch on the Cards?
Market reports suggest that Yamaha's WR 155R is unlikely to be launched in India in the near future. However, if the brand did launch it at a November 11 event, the dual-sport bike would have rivals in the form of the Kawasaki KLX 230 (Rs 1.84 lakh) and the Hero Xpulse 200 4V (Rs 1.40 lakh-Rs 1.55 lakh). The prices are ex-showroom.
