Year Ender 2023: India's automotive industry has witnessed a transition from conventional ICE cars to EV models throughout 2023. However, this transition is not just limited to cars as the two-wheeler segment in the country also saw an increase in the demand for electric variants of scooters and bikes. Established two-wheeler manufacturers like Bajaj and TVS have also forayed into the electric two-wheeler market but most manufacturers with exceptional offerings are new names that have entered the industry recently. This demand and growth of electric two-wheelers in the country can be attributed to the government's push to cut carbon emissions and accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030. The Indian government has been offering various subsidies and incentives to increase the adoption of electric vehicles in the country. Therefore, let’s take a quick recap of some electric two-wheelers launched in India in 2023.

TVS X
TVS India launched the TVS X electric scooter in the country in August 2023. The TVS X is the most expensive electric scooter now in India with a starting price of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The TVS X is equipped with a 4.44kWh battery pack that provides a driving range of 140 km. TVS claims that the X e-scooter can achieve a top speed of 105 km/h and can accelerate from 0-40 km/h in just 2.6 seconds.
Ola S1 Range
Ola Electric is among the leading electric two wheeler manufacturers in the country. Ola Electric launched a range of e-scooters in the country in August 2023. Previously, Ola offered the S1 Pro in the market which is now offered in its second generation. Additionally, Ola also introduced two new scooters - Ola S1 Air and Ola S1 X for the Indian market. Ex-showroom prices for all these electric scooters start at Rs 1.47 lakh for the S1 Pro, Rs 1.20 lakh for the S1 Air and Rs 90,000 for the S1 X.
Ather 450S
Ather Energy, which is also a popular name in the electric two-wheeler market of the country launched the 450S e-scooter in August 2023. The Ather 450S is available with prices starting from Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). It is equipped with a 2.9 kWh battery pack that enables the electric scooter to deliver a driving range of 115 km on a single charge.
Simple Dot One
Simple Energy launched the Dot One electric scooter on December 15 2023. Simple Energy has launched the Dot One electric scooter at an introductory price of Rs 99,999. Simple Dot One is equipped with an 8.5 kW electric motor and a 3.7 kWh battery pack. The electric motor produces a power output of 12 bhp and 72 Nm of torque and the battery pack offers a driving range of 151 km.

Ultraviolette F99
Ultraviolette Automotive, an Indian electric motorcycle manufacturer revealed the F99 e-bike in November at EICMA 2023. The Ultraviolette F99 is capable of producing a power output of 120 bhp and Ultraviolette claims that the F99 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3 seconds. The brand also claims that it can achieve a top speed of 265 km/h.
Orxa Mantis
Orxa Energies, a Bangalore-based electric motorcycle manufacturer launched its flagship offering, the Mantis in November 2023. The Orxa Mantis e-bike has been launched with a price tag of Rs 3.6 lakh (ex-showroom). Orxa claims that the Mantis e-bike is capable of achieving a top speed of 135 km/h and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. The Orxa Mantis is equipped with a 8.9 kWh battery pack that enables the bike to deliver a driving range of 221 km.
