Bihar Crime: A mysterious case has left police bewildered in Amjharsarif village under Haspura police station area in Bihar's Aurangabad, where five girls allegedly consumed poison on Thursday, resulting in the death of four of them.
Despite the incident, police have so far failed to gather any concrete information. Following a report published in a newspaper, SDPO Daudnagar Ashok Kumar Das and the Haspura station house officer reached the village on Sunday morning and began an investigation.
In this small hamlet of about 25 households, officers questioned villagers, but residents refused to provide any details about the event. No men from the village came forward in front of the police.
During the probe, police visited the cremation ground (shmashan ghat), where they found only one partially burnt pyre. Given reports of four deaths, the presence of four pyres would be expected, but only one set of remains was discovered. It remains unclear which girl's body was cremated there, with no clear information available.
House-to-house inquiries yielded nothing, as no family confirmed the deaths of the girls. Contact was made with panchayat-level representatives, but they too provided no solid details. Subsequently, Magadh Range Inspector General Chhatranil Singh arrived in the village along with SP Ambarish Rahul and personally oversaw the investigation.
Even during questioning by the IG and SP, only women spoke to the police, and they offered no information about the incident. Strikingly, not a single man from the village appeared before the authorities, deepening suspicions. After the probe, the IG stated that there is suspicion of an incident having occurred, but no villager is willing to speak.
He expressed concern that villagers may have been intimidated or threatened by someone, or that an atmosphere of fear has been created in the village through other means. Efforts to summon the mukhiya and other panchayat representatives failed, as they did not appear. The village chowkidar, who resides in another village, had no knowledge of the matter.
Police also visited the spot where the girls were reportedly vomiting, but found no evidence. The IG directed the station house officer to continue the investigation from all angles, noting that the truth would emerge only after a thorough inquiry.
Reports indicate that the family of the one girl said to have survived has not come forward; her father is not present in the village, according to information received by police.
The case remains fully shrouded in mystery for now, with police actively probing every aspect. SDPO Ashok Kumar Das, along with the inspector and station house officer, were present during the visits.
