India's upcoming Vadhavan offshore airport is planned to manage up to 90 million passengers per year, promising more flight options, reduced delays, and improved punctuality. Frequent travellers and families stand to gain from eased congestion and hassle-free trips, particularly in busy seasons.
Of the projected Rs 45,000 crore total cost, roughly Rs 25,000 crore (as per an ET Infra report) will go toward land reclamation, with the balance funding essential airport infrastructure, including terminals and runways.

The Vadhavan offshore airport is also poised to become a major air cargo powerhouse, with a planned capacity of 3 million metric tonnes per annum.
Crucially, it will be seamlessly integrated with the forthcoming all-weather, greenfield Vadhavan deep-draft port, creating a powerful multi-modal logistics node where air and sea transport converge.
