Bihar Kanwariya Accident: Nine Kanwariyas died and several others were injured when a music system (DJ) trolley came in contact with an electric wire in the Vaishali distrcit of Bihar on Sunday night. The event occurred around 11:45 pm on the Hajipur-Jandaha Road.

According to reports, the kanwariya, all from the Sultanpur village, were returning from Pahelaja Ghat after collecting water for the Jalabhishek ceremony at the Baba Hariharnath temple the following morning. As they were traveling on the DJ trolley, the loudspeaker came into contact with an overhead electric wire near the Baba Chauharmal Sthan, close to the Naiper Gate in the Industrial Police Station area.

Eyewitness Shivam Kumar stated that the electric shock from the wire resulted in the electrocution of more than a dozen people on the trolley. Unfortunately, eight of the Kanwariyas succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The local authorities, including the District Magistrate Yashpal Meena and Sadar SDPO Omprakash, promptly responded to the incident. The injured were immediately rushed to the Sadar Hospital for medical attention. One of the injured, Umesh Das's son Rajiv Kumar, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, while some others have been discharged after receiving first aid.

The deceased Kanwariyas have been identified as Ravi Kumar, Raja Kumar, Naveen Kumar, Amaresh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Kalu Kumar and Ashi Kumar. All of them were residents of the nearby Sultanpur village.

Sadar SDPO Omprakash, in his statement, acknowledged the tragic event, and stated that the Kanwariyas were traveling on a DJ trolley and the high volume of the music system led to the entanglement with the electric wire, ultimately causing the deaths. The bodies of the deceased Kanwariyas have been transported to the Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

District officials, including the Civil Surgeon Dr. Shyamnandan Prasad and DPM Kumar Manoj, have reached the site and are overseeing the situation.
