Uttarakhand Rain: Torrential rains in Uttarakhand have caused widespread disruption to the state's famous pilgrimage routes, leading to the temporary suspension of the Kedarnath Yatra. The heavy downpours have washed away sections of the highway and footpaths leading to the famous Kedarnath yatra, posing a serious risk to travellers.

Kedarnath Yatra Halted

According to local authorities, around 100 metres of the highway connecting Sonprayag to Kedarnath has been completely swept away by the floodwaters. Additionally, the Kedarnath walking route has been damaged at multiple points, making the journey dangerous for pilgrims. In response, the state government has advised all travellers to postpone their Kedarnath Dham Yatra plans and remain in safe havens until further notice.

Registration Of Char Dham Yatra In Haridwar And Rishikesh Suspended

The inclement weather has also taken its toll on other pilgrimage routes in the region. Registration for the Char Dham Yatra in Haridwar and Rishikesh has been suspended for the day, as officials closely monitor the situation. Landslides and falling debris from the hills have increased the risk factor on several travel routes, prompting the authorities to urge visitors to exercise caution.

Sonprayag Route Damaged

Disaster management teams have been deployed to assess the damage and initiate necessary repairs. Particularly concerning is the situation in Sonprayag, where a large section of the road has been washed away due to river erosion and hillside cracking. The administration has advised all travellers who have reached Rudraprayag to remain in their current locations until the situation stabilises.

Haryana Kanwar Pilgrims Truck Swept Away In Flash floods

The inclement weather has also taken its toll on the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. In a worrying incident, a truck belonging to Kanwar pilgrims from Haryana was swept away by a flash flood in the Kharkhari area. Fortunately, no pilgrims were present in the vehicle at the time. The truck, which was reportedly carrying food and supplies for the Kanwariyas, will be retrieved once the rain subsides.

Sanjit Kandhari, the in-charge of the Kharkhari Chowki, stated that no Kanwar Yatra pilgrim has come forward yet to report the missing truck. He also stated that the water levels in the area remain high due to the ongoing rainfall and the vehicle will be retrieved as soon as the weather conditions improve.

Uttarakhand Rain: Seven Dead, Including Pregnant woman

Meanwhile, heavy rains in Uttarakhand have claimed seven lives, including three on Wednesday night. Two bodies were found in Dehradun, identified as a retired honorary captain and Sundar Singh. Another body was recovered from a canal in Raipur. In Chamoli, a pregnant woman died after being buried under a collapsed house
