The Bihar government has approved the operation of 299 deluxe buses, both AC and non-AC, on interstate routes connecting the state with Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and West Bengal. The initiative, led by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC), is aimed at strengthening public transport infrastructure, improving passenger convenience, and creating local employment opportunities.
As part of the plan, 149 new deluxe buses will soon begin operations, enabling the daily travel of approximately 6,000 passengers. This includes the purchase of:

-75 AC deluxe buses at an estimated cost of ₹74 lakh per bus, with a total grant of ₹55.50 crore
-74 non-AC deluxe buses at a cost of ₹68 lakh per bus, with a grant of ₹50.32 crore
In addition, to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during festivals such as Durga Puja, Diwali, Chhath, and Holi, the state government also plans to operate 150 new AC buses under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model on key interstate routes.
Transport Secretary Sandeep Kumar R Pudkalkatti stated that this move will significantly enhance the comfort, safety, and affordability of travel for citizens, particularly for those working outside the state. Moreover, the initiative is expected to generate employment at the local level and boost the overall interstate mobility network.
With the launch of these services, BSRTC aims to provide modern, well-equipped, and reliable public transport options for long-distance travelers across state borders.
