The workers of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) have launched an ardent protest in Bihar against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list by the Election Commission (EC) ahead of the Assembly Elections in the state.

Supporting the ‘Bihar Bandh’ call, leaders of the Mahagathbandhan burned tyres by blocking National Highway 30 at the Maner Assembly stretch in Patna.

RJD supporters also block the railway track and NH-83 in Jehanabad. Several RJD leaders were seen playing cricket by blocking the roads. Supporters of independent MP Pappu Yadav also participated in the protest by blocking railway tracks in Araria.

RJD workers also stopped the Namo Bharat Train, asserting that they were protesting the EC as the poll body was working on an ‘agenda’ set by someone.

“We have called this Bandh against the Election Commission, which is working as per someone’s agenda… The public is tired of the government. RJD and the entire INDIA alliance have called for Bandh,” a party leader said to PTI.

Congress MP and LoP Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has also left for Patna from Delhi to join protests over electoral rolls revision in poll-bound Bihar. He will participate in a march alongside Mahagathbandhan leaders from the Income Tax roundabout to the Election Commission office near the Bihar Assembly at 10 AM. This will be his seventh visit to poll-bound Bihar in the last five months.
