People in Delhi are reeling under severe hot and humid weather after light rain on Tuesday evening. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rain, followed by strong winds, in Delhi-NCR, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and other districts.

Incidents of cloudbursts may occur in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Incidents of flash floods and cloudbursts have caused significant damage in Uttarakhand and Himachal. Two incidents of cloudburst were reported, each in Himachal’s Chamba and Uttarakhand’s Chamoli on Tuesday. Along with the damage to the connecting roads, several houses were also damaged.

This monsoon has seen 23 flash floods, 19 cloudbursts and 16 landslides across Himachal, the SDMA said on Tuesday.

As many as 52 people have so far died while nearly as many are missing in rain-related incidents in Himachal.

In Himachal, the weather department has issued a warning of heavy rains in some places of Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, Solan and Sirmaur on July 9. The sequence of heavy rains is expected to continue till July 14 in some places.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert, forecasting light to moderate rains in Delhi on Wednesday. The temperature is also likely to drop, with the maximum expected to hover between 33-35°C and the minimum between 24-26°C.

Several districts of Punjab witnessed heavy rains on Tuesday. An alert for light to moderate showers has been issued for today as well.
