The Bihar government presented the first supplementary expenditure statement for the financial year 2025–26 in the state Assembly on Monday. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Samrat Choudhary placed the statement, amounting to Rs 57,946.25 crore, before the House.

A significant portion of the allocation—Rs 18,908.03 crore—falls under the state scheme head. Among the key provisions, the highest allocation of Rs 3,423.91 crore has been made for the Chief Minister's Old Age Pension Scheme.

Additionally, Rs 790.15 crore has been earmarked for the Disability Social Security Pension Scheme, and Rs 681.07 crore for the Lakshmi Social Security Pension Scheme. The budget also focuses on infrastructure and youth development.

Notable allocations include:

-Rs 1,200 crore for the construction of major roads and bridges,

-Rs 1,000 crore for land acquisition for industrial development,

-Rs 800 crore for the Chief Minister’s Intermediate Pass Incentive Scheme, and

-Rs 700 crore for the Chief Minister’s Graduate Pass Incentive Scheme.

A total of Rs 489.89 crore has been allocated for the development of airports in Raxaul, Darbhanga, and Veerpur. Furthermore, Rs 100 crore each has been allotted for the renewable energy programme and the ongoing construction of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna.

In addition, the government has made key provisions under the state’s share for centrally sponsored schemes:

-Rs 2,127.10 crore for the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan,

-Rs 2,415.54 crore for the National Old Age Pension Scheme,

-Rs 1,000 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural),

-Rs 725 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, and

-Rs 224.35 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).

These allocations underline the state government’s focus on welfare schemes, infrastructure development, and social security initiatives.
