To ensure uninterrupted electricity at Chhath ghats, the Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL) is setting up control rooms at major and important ghats across the state. BSPHCL Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Kumar Singh reviewed preparations on Thursday and outlined safety measures ahead of the festival.

Singh noted that higher river water levels this year will reduce space at the ghats, requiring extra vigilance for electrical safety. With larger crowds expected due to upcoming assembly elections, he directed that at least two electrical personnel be deployed at crowded ghats and that control rooms be established at large and high-importance locations.

Remaining tasks, including bunching of electrical, optical fibre, and dish cables, anti-sagging measures, and guard wiring along ghats, access paths, and surrounding areas, must be completed within 24 hours. Generators installed by local committees will also be inspected to prevent accidents.

A thorough check of all poles along routes and at ghats will be conducted to ensure leaning poles are straightened, dielectric paint is applied, and plastic wrapping is used to prevent current flow. All activities will be supervised by the Superintending Electrical Engineer, with strict instructions to avoid any bare wires at ghats.

A temporary fuse call team will be deployed for emergencies, and engineers will be stationed at all power substations for immediate response to any local issues. Electrical personnel at ghats will wear special jackets for easy identification, and mock drills will be conducted to ensure a smooth power supply during the festival.
