Bihar News: The central government on Thursday gave approval to the alignment of two major road projects in Bihar. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways stated that these projects will provide great convenience to the residents of the state, adding that it will also provide a financial boost to the state.

The central government approved the alignment of the much-awaited Patna-Purnia Expressway. The government stated that a total amount of Rs 18042 crore will be spent on the construction of this 282 km long expressway. While announcing the alignment, the officials stated that several districts alongside Purnia will also get connected to the capital city of Bihar, providing convenience to the residents of these districts.

Apart from this, the government also approved the alignment of the 81 km long stretch of Sahebganj-Areraj-Bettiah Expressway. It further stated that a total amount of Rs 1447 crore will be spent on this project. The officials emphasised that this expressway will connect multiple districts of the state, giving a financial boost to these districts.

Patna-Purnia Expressway Construction To Be Completed Within Three Years

The officials stated that the construction of the Patna-Purnia Expressway will start from Mirnagar in Vaishali. They added that the expressway will go through Samastipur, Darbhanga, Saharsa, and Madhepura to Chand Bhatti in Purnia on NH-27 (East-West Corridor). The central government has approved the construction of 21 big bridges, 140 small bridges, 11 ROBs, 21 interchanges, and 322 underpasses.

Apart from this, the government stated that the expressway will be six lanes and will be 90 meters wide. The officials also confirmed that the land acquisition process for the Patna-Purnia Expressway will commence soon, adding that proper compensation will be provided to the people. The ministry had also assured that the construction work of this expressway will be completed within three years.
