Minister of Cooperation Dr Prem Kumar on Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of various schemes and programs under the Cooperative Department. During the meeting, officials informed the minister that 124 micro ATMs have been distributed to Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), and Rs 47.52 crore has been disbursed among 1,680 groups under the Joint Liability Group (JLG) scheme.

The review meeting was attended by nodal officers from the department headquarters, managing directors of district cooperative banks, and representatives of Central Cooperative Banks through video conferencing.

Emphasising the need to strengthen cooperative banking infrastructure, Dr Kumar urged all banks to intensify efforts to increase deposits and reduce Non-Performing Assets (NPAs). He directed the launch of a panchayat-level account opening campaign under the “Sahyog Mein Sahakar Abhiyan” in a camp-based mode.

The minister also reviewed proposals for the modernisation of cooperative banks and the establishment of a new Central Cooperative Bank, directing officials to expedite implementation. Additionally, he instructed departments to complete the pending land acquisition and boundary wall works related to cooperative banks without delay.
