Two separate public murders occurred in Gaya and Sherghati amidst crowded Dussehra celebrations on Thursday evening. In a tragic coincidence, both victims were young men named Deepak.

Murder In Sherghati

In Sherghati, 24-year-old Deepak was shot four times near the Naya Bazar registry office, a location just 30 metres from the local police station.

His cousin, Rajesh Gupta, later surrendered to the police and confessed to the crime, stating it was a premeditated murder motivated by a property dispute. The victim was the adopted son of Dwarika Prasad, a prominent local landowner.

Investigating officers, including ASP Shailendra Singh, arrived at the scene and recovered a country-made pistol and a liquor bottle. Authorities have confirmed the accused is being interrogated.

Murder In Gaya City

Meanwhile, in Gaya city, another man named Deepak was beaten to death near BIPARD (Bihar Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development). A resident of Ghutiya village and an employee at Brahmavan Park, he was out enjoying the Vijayadashami celebrations when a dispute with several individuals turned fatal.

Following the murder, angry locals blocked the road late into the night, demanding the immediate arrest of the killers. Magadh Medical SHO Krishna Kumar confirmed that an investigation is underway.
