Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday reacted for the first time to the developments in the Disha Salian death case. Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died in Mumbai in June 2020.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in the case after Salian's father, Satish Salian, recorded his statement before the agency last week as part of its investigation.
Aaditya said he never knew or met Salian and alleged that attempts to link his name to the case were aimed at tarnishing his image for political reasons.

Linking my name to this tragic case constantly is a deliberate, evidence-free attempt at character assassination by a few individuals with clear political and personal motives, for almost 6 years," Aaditya said in a post on X.
He said the relentless smear campaign is being run by vested interests without a single shred of evidence, and that the truth is highly unfortunate.
"Let the official re-investigation proceed without malicious distractions and character assassination for political motives.
"Once again, for those few thinking that such malicious attempts being used politically will hold us back from fighting for the truth, and for fellow citizens, is a failed strategy. We always will stand by the truth, and fight for it," he added.

Earlier this month, the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI investigation into Salian's death and reprimanded the Mumbai Police for failing to register an FIR for six years.
The CBI has identified Aaditya Thackeray, Rohan Roy, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Aaditya Thackeray's bodyguards, Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Sachin Vaze, Param Bir Singh, DCP Vishal Thakur, Uddhav Thackeray, Anil Deshmukh and several police officials.
The statement further mentions officials from Malvani Police Station, doctors and staff who delayed the post-mortem, personnel from Kalina's forensic science laboratory, security personnel of Regent Galaxy Building and several others.
Who Was Disha Salian?
Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. A week later, Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020, triggering speculation about a possible link between the two deaths.
Mumbai Police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the case and later concluded, after an inquiry, that Salian had died by suicide.
These developments came after the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI investigation on September 2 while hearing a petition filed by Salian's father, who had alleged lapses in the Mumbai Police investigation.
The court criticised the police for not registering an FIR for six years and observed that its investigation "raises more questions than answers". It also highlighted what it called "glaring discrepancies" in the probe.
The court further noted that Salian's family had not received copies of the post-mortem report and the ADR even six years after her death.
