The Bihar Education Department has issued a directive, providing relief to teachers affected by a discrepancy. Teachers who took the Urdu proficiency test instead of Hindi in the Class 1-5 competency exam in Bihar will now be allowed to contribute.
Similarly, the hold on contributions of Class 1-5 appointed teachers who passed the Class 6-8 competency exam has been lifted with immediate effect. This decision provides significant relief to the affected teachers. Two separate orders regarding this matter were issued on Monday by the Primary Education Director, Sahila, to the district education officers.
According to the orders, Class 1-5 Urdu or general subject appointed teachers who have passed the competency exam in general or Urdu subjects will be allowed to contribute to their originally appointed subject positions with immediate effect.

Additionally, Class 1-5 appointed teachers who have passed the Class 6-8 competency exam will immediately contribute to their original Class 1-5 positions. The issue arose because the Bihar School Specific Teacher Rules allowed Class 1-5 teachers to choose one language from English, Hindi, Urdu, or Bengali for the language section of the competency exam.
General teachers were supposed to choose Hindi, Urdu teachers Urdu, and Bengali teachers Bengali. However, some general teachers proficient in Urdu chose Urdu instead of Hindi, leading to a decision to immediately halt their contributions.
