Bihar Election 2025: Ahead of the much-hyped Bihar assembly election, the opposition INDIA-Bloc is likely to announce its seat-sharing formula in the next two days. A high-profile meeting was held at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav's residence on Sunday where the alliance partners discussed the possible formula. In comparison to 2020 assembly election, the seat sharing is more complex for the opposition alliance due to inclusion of new parties like JMM and Pashupati Paras' RLJP. While Tejashwi has been leading the alliance for past years, the opposition has not announced its chief ministerial candidate yet.

After attending the meeting at Tejashwi's residence, several leaders, including Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP) president Mukesh Sahni and RJD national general secretary Alok Mehta, confirmed that most of the key issues have been discussed and the formula will be announced in the next two days. "But, please excuse me from divulging the details. We shall announce everything at a press conference... the day after tomorrow," Sahni was quoted as saying by PTI. "Most things have been discussed. A few issues remain to be sorted out. But, all would be final in two days, and we will announce everything at a press conference," Mehta told reporters.

The opposition INDIA Bloc consists of six parties- RJD the Congress, three Left parties and former state minister Mukesh Sahni's Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP). Earlier last month, Tejashwi Yadav stated that the opposition will form a government in the state after almost a decade. He further stated that alliance would have been in power if the "vote chori" did not happen.

The Election Commission will announce the polling dates for the much-hyped Bihar election today at 4 pm. The election in Bihar is set to be held in fewer phases after most of the political parties asked to conduct the polls in one or two phases. Apart from this, the election is also expected to be conducted soon after the Chhath festival to ensure maximum participation from the voters.
