Bihar Election 2025: The opposition Mahagathbandhan is likely to announce the seat-sharing formula for the Bihar Assembly election in the upcoming days. The RJD and Congress leaders on Monday stated that the talks on the seat-sharing are in the final stages, adding that some last-minute disputes will be resolved soon. The alliance is also set to release a joint manifesto with a major focus likely on job creation and the manufacturing sector. The seat-sharing talks have been complex for the opposition alliance due to high demands from the alliance partners, including left parties, and Mukesh Sahni's VIP. Earlier on Sunday, the ruling NDA announced its seat-sharing formula for the upcoming polls.
The top leadership of RJD and Congress is likely to meet in Delhi to discuss further plans and finalise the seat-sharing formula. Earlier on Sunday, RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav confirmed that the final decision will be taken after a meeting with the allies, especially Congress. "There is a meeting of the alliance. Talks are on," Yadav told the reporters in Delhi.
The reports suggest that the Congress is expected to get fewer seats due to its poor performance in the last assembly election; however, the grand old party is demanding at least 70 seats. “The Congress president has been speaking to all the coalition partners in Bihar, and the final discussion is on for deciding candidates in a few seats where the Congress and some other parties feel they are strong,” Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh stated.
Apart from higher demands in seats, Mukesh Sahni has also reportedly demanded the post of deputy chief minister, leading to issues. The election in Bihar is set to be conducted in two phases on November 6 and 11, and the results will be announced on November 11. The opposition Mahagathbandhan is contesting to form a government after a decade in the state.
