Bihar Election 2025: With just a few days remaining until the announcement of the much-hyped Bihar assembly election, both the major alliances of Bihar, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Mahagathbandhan, have commenced the seat-sharing talks. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) state president Mangani Lal Mandal on Saturday confirmed that the seat sharing in the Mahagathbandhan alliance will be completed in the next ten days. The seat sharing has been very tough for both the alliances due to the political ambition of the allies and the rebellious approach from the ground workers.

While providing details, Mandal stated that the seat-sharing talks in the Mahagathbandhan are in the final stages, adding that Tejashwi Yadav will become the next chief minister of Bihar. While the Congress has not officially announced Tejashwi as the CM candidate, the former Bihar deputy chief minister is the front runner as he has been leading the alliance for the past few years in Bihar. Earlier during the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', Tejashwi announced himself as the chief ministerial candidate in front of the Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) is expected to visit Bihar in the first week of October to take stock of poll preparedness in the state. It is usual for the poll body to visit the election-bound state before announcing the poll schedule. The visit is planned after the final electoral rolls under the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise are published on September 30.

The upcoming election is crucial for both the alliances, as the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led NDA will try to repeat its government. However, the Mahagathbandhan, led by Tejashwi Yadav, will contest to form its government after a decade. The entry of Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraj has spiced up the politics of the state, making the election a triangular contest.
