Maheshwar Hazari Profile: With only two days remaining in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly election 2025, the political landscape is all charged up. Amid fierce competition between several parties and multiple decisive factors, the reserved assembly constituencies will play a crucial role.

One such seat is Kalyanpur, where popular Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Maheshwar Hazari is contesting. Hazari has been representing the Kalyanpur Vidhan Sabha seat since 2015, and is eying a third win from the seat.

Maheshwar Hazari: JDU's Champion Of Dalit Politics

Persistently registering victory from Kalyanpur Assembly constituency of Purvi (East) Champaran district, Maheshwar Singh Hazari, the current leader of the Hazari family that once challenged Ram Vilas Paswan's Dalit politics, is now the Minister of Information and Public Relations in the Nitish Kumar government.

Maheshwar Hazari: Political Career, Education

Maheshwar Hazari secured victory in the Kalyanpur (Samastipur) constituency, securing a staggering 52,000-vote lead over his rival and the nephew of the late Ram Vilas Paswan. He once held the Samastipur Lok Sabha constituency, serving in both the 15th and 16th Lok Sabha terms before shifting to state politics.

Hazari secured victories in both the 2005 elections from the Warisnagar seat on an LJP ticket. In 2009, he joined JD(U) and won the Samastipur Lok Sabha seat to enter Parliament.

He has also held the position of Deputy Speaker in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Across various terms in the Nitish Kumar government, Maheshwar Hazari has served as Minister for Building Construction, Industries, Planning and Development, and Urban Development and Housing.

Kalyanpur Assembly Election 2025: Maheshwar Hazari's Personal Life And Net Worth

Maheshwar Hazari was born on January 5, 1974, in Manihari Block of Katihar district, Bihar and received education till class 12th. He is the son of socialist icon Ramsewak Hazari, who notched eight straight assembly wins and a Lok Sabha berth in the sixth general elections.

As per Myneta.info, Hazai owns a total assets of over Rs 10 crore, including his movable and immovable assets of over Rs 2 crore and Rs 8 crore, respectively.

Kalyanpur Assembly Election 2025

Maheshwar Hazari is contesting the Kalyanpur Assembly seat, reserved for the Schedule Caste, against Ram Balak Paswan of Jan Suraaj Party and Ranjit Ram of CPI(M).

The Purvi Champaran's Kalyanpur seat came into existence following the 2008 recommendations of the Delimitation Commission and comprises the entire Kotwa community development block, along with 18 gram panchayats of the Kalyanpur block.
