Tej Pratap Yadav Profile: The political fervor in the poll-bound Bihar is high due to the aggressive campaign from all the parties for the Assembly election. One of the most-discussed candidates in the election is RJD-expelled leader and elder son of former Chief Ministers Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi, Tej Pratap Yadav. The Janshakti Janta Dal's founder is contesting the Mahua Assembly constituency, the seat where he began his political journey and was elected MLA for the first time in the 2015 Bihar Assembly election. While Tej Pratap Yadav contested from the Hasanpur Assembly constituency in the 2020 polls, he has decided to revive his career from Mahua amid tensions with his brother Tejashwi Yadav.

Mahua: Tej Pratap Eyes Career Revival

Tej Pratap was expelled from the RJD in May by his father, Lalu Yadav, for allegedly indulging in anti-political activities. While he remained silent for the first few weeks, he formed a new party and announced his decision to contest the polls independently. However, the victory for the JJD founder will not be a cakewalk, as he will face RJD candidate and incumbent MLA Mukesh Kumar Raushan and Lok Janshakti Party's (Ram Vilas) Sanjay Kumar. Mahua has been a stronghold for the RJD in the past few decades; however, Tej Pratap is set to challenge the dominance of his father's party in the 2025 Bihar Assembly election.

Tej Pratap Yadav: Educational Background, Career, Net Worth Details

Tej Pratap has a strong political background, as both of his parents, Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi, served as the chief minister of Bihar. Yadav contested his first election from the Mahua seat in the 2015 Assembly election and later became Health Minister of the state after Mahagathbandhan formed a government. He contested from the Hasanpur seat in the 2020 Assembly election and emerged victorious.

However, the JJD founder is facing probably the toughest times in his career, with RJD supporters campaigning against him in Mahua. Tej Pratap is an intermediate from the Bihar School Examination Board and has a property worth Rs 2.88 crore, as per his affidavit to the Election Commission.

Mahua: Tej Pratap Challenges RJD's Dominance

Named after the Mahua trees, the seat has been under the spotlight as one of Lalu Yadav's sons is set to take on an RJD candidate. The data from the Election Commission suggests that there were a total of 2,86,501 voters in the Mahua constituency during the 2020 Assembly Elections. While 1,53,134 of the total voters were male, 1,33,365 were female voters.

RJD candidate Mukesh Kumar Raushan won the Mahua seat with a margin of 13,770 votes in the 2020 Assembly election. Earlier in 2015, Tej Pratap Yadav defeated the BJP candidate with more than 28,000 votes. While Tej Pratap Yadav will try to establish his authority in the seat, the RJD will aim for a repeat of victory.
