Bihar Election 2025: The Election Commission on Monday announced that the Assembly polls in Bihar will be conducted in two phases and the results will be announced on November 14. The poll body stated that the polls are being scheduled just after the Chhath festival after receiving suggestions from the political parties and to ensure maximum participation of the voters. While the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, will contest to repeat its government, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav-led Mahagathbandhan will try to form a government in the state after a decade. However, the entry of poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraj has spiced up the politics of the state.

Spotlight On These Three Leaders:

Nitish Kumar: The Janata Dal United (JDU) chief has been the chief minister of the state for mostof the last two decades. Popularly known as 'Sushasan Babu' for his focus on law and order and infrastructure, Nitish Kumar is likely to contest probably the toughest election of his life. While the opposition leaders have been questioning his health and performance, Kumar has announced several lucrative beneficiary schemes in the past few months to stay in the contest.

Tejashwi Yadav: RJD leader and son of former chief ministers Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi has been active in politics for the past few years. While the RJD emerged as the single largest party under his leadership in the 2020 assembly election, it could not cross the winning line. Yadav has established a fair amount of popularity among the youth by raising issues like unemployment and migration. The 35-year-old patriarch, along with other alliance partners, including Congress and left parties, will contest to form a government for the first time under his leadership.

Prashant Kishor: With a remarkable resume as a poll strategist, Prashant Kishor launched his own political party, Jan Suraj, allegedly to change the course of the state. Kishor travelled several districts of the state for two years and raised issues like migration, education, health, and infrastructure. While the politics of Bihar has mostly revolved around the Lalu family and Nitish Kumar for the past three decades, it will be interesting to see if Kishor will be able to have any impact.
