Bihar Election 2025: The first phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 will be held on Thursday, November 6, marking the beginning of a electoral process that will decide the state’s next government. Voters from 121 constituencies across 18 districts will cast their votes in this phase. The elections will be conducted in two phases this year—on November 6 and November 11, instead of three, as decided by the Election Commission to shorten the schedule due to upcoming festivals.

Bihar Assembly Election Phase 1: Polling Timing And Arrangements

Polling will begin at 7 AM and continue till 5 PM, though voters still standing in the queue after 5 PM will be allowed to vote. In certain regions, polling hours may vary depending on local security arrangements. The Election Commission has stated that all facilities and security measures are in place to ensure a peaceful and smooth voting experience.

Bihar Assembly Election: Alternative ID Options For Voters Without EPIC

For voters whose names appear in the electoral roll but who have misplaced or do not possess their Voter ID card (EPIC), the Election Commission of India (ECI) has permitted the use of 12 alternative photo identity documents. 

- Aadhaar card

- driving licence

- PAN card

- Indian passport

- MNREGA job card

- Pension document with photograph

- Health insurance or Ayushman Bharat card

- Passbook with photograph issued by a bank or post office

- Smart Card under NPR

- Unique Disability ID (UDID) card

- Service ID card issued by government or public sector companies

- Official ID cards issued to MPs, MLAs, or MLCs

Bihar Assembly Election: Over 7.4 Crore Voters Registered

This year’s elections will be held across 90,712 polling booths, with an average of 818 voters per booth, to ensure better management and accessibility. According to the final electoral rolls, Bihar has 7.42 crore registered voters, including 3.92 crore men and 3.5 crore women. A total of 2,616 candidates are contesting across both phases of polling.

To ensure transparency, the Election Commission will conduct webcasting from all polling booths. Voters will be required to deposit their mobile phones outside polling rooms before entering. Each of the 243 constituencies will also have a dedicated observer to monitor the process.

Bihar Polls: Heavy Security Deployed Across State

For security, over 500 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)—including the CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB—have been deployed across Bihar. Around 121 companies belong to the CRPF, while 400 others are from the BSF and other paramilitary unit
