Bihar Election 2025: The record voter turnout in Bihar has taken political parties and analysts by surprise. Calculations and discussions about who stands to gain from the surge in voting are underway. Both NDA and Mahagathbandhan are claiming the higher turnout as a positive sign for themselves. The speculations are expected to continue until the votes are counted on November 14.

Voter participation in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections reached an all-time high, with a combined 66.91 per cent turnout across both phases. The first phase, held on November 6, saw 64.66 per cent of voters cast their ballot. This figure was surpassed in the second phase on November 11, which recorded a strong 68.52 per cent turnout.

The NDA claims that Nitish-Modi's good governance and the fear of return to "jungle raj" firmly swayed voters. The Grand Alliance had its own arguments.

The increased voter turnout in Seemanchal region has surprised everyone the most. In Kishanganj, Katihar, and Purnia, voter turnout reached nearly 80 per cent. These regions saw the highest voter turnout in the entire state. Nearly 40 per cent of Seemanchal's voters are Muslim.

Hindu voters, especially women, have voted more vocally than Muslims. The Kasba constituency in Purnia district recorded a voter turnout of nearly 82 per cent, the highest among the state's 243 assembly seats.

Muslim voters here constitute only 30 per cent. This represents a 16 per cent increase in the number of voters in the last assembly elections. In the Amour assembly constituency of the same district, 65 per cent of the voters are Muslim. This is the seat with the highest number of Muslim voters in the district.

Here, polling was only 74 per cent, about six per cent less than in Kasba. Kishanganj, the district with the highest Muslim population in the state, has the most Muslim voters in its Kochadhaman constituency. In this constituency with 75 per cent Muslim voters, polling was only 11 per cent higher than in the last election.

Meanwhile, the neighbouring Kishanganj Sadar seat, which has 15 per cent fewer Muslim voters than Kochadhaman, saw a 20 per cent increase in voter turnout this time. Voter turnout here surpassed the historic 80 per cent mark.

Women Voted Nearly 10 Per Cent More Than Men

"He (CM Nitish Kumar) gave me Rs 10,000, and he will give it to me in the future. He's the same," said a female voter, as quoted by jagran.com. The NDA's confidence and the exit poll data clearly reflected these women's sentiments.
