Vijay Kumar Sinha Profile: Vijay Kumar Sinha, the current Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and a prominent figure within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is preparing for a high-stakes campaign in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Election. As a senior leader holding significant state portfolios, Sinha represents one of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) key faces in the election. He is contesting again from the Lakhisarai Assembly constituency, aiming to secure a fourth consecutive victory in his long-held seat.
Bihar Election 2025: Vijay Sinha’s Political Journey And Key Posts
Vijay Kumar Sinha's political career has shown a notable trajectory of growth and influence. He first entered active politics in 2005, winning his debut Assembly election from Lakhisarai. Although he narrowly lost a re-election later that year, he regained the seat in 2010, and has retained it ever since.
His rise in the Bihar BJP has seen him hold several pivotal administrative and legislative roles:
- Minister of Labour Resources (2017–2020)
- Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly (2020–2022)
- Leader of the Opposition (2022–2024)
- Deputy Chief Minister (2024–present)
Lakhisarai Constituency: BJP’s Political Stronghold
In the last two Bihar Assembly elections, Vijay Kumar Sinha has enjoyed comfortable victories. In 2020, he secured 38.2 per cent of the votes in Lakhisarai, defeating the Congress’s Aman Raj. Sinha’s margin and popularity highlight his deep connect with voters, particularly as the area has a sizeable Bhumihar community, his own caste group, which is a strong BJP support base. In 2015, too, he retained the seat with a margin of over 6,500 votes, establishing his dominance in the region.
Bihar Election 2025: Lakhisarai Electoral Challenge
Despite his long dominance, the 2025 election presents a greater challenge for the Deputy Chief Minister. Sinha faces new opponents, including Congress candidate Amaresh Kumar, Jan Suraaj Party’s Suraj Kumar and Janshakti Janta Dal’s Sukhdev Yadav. While the BJP-led NDA is banking on its alliance with JDU, LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM and RLM, the Mahagathbandhan alliance has brought together RJD, Congress, Left parties and VIP.
Bihar Election 2025: Vijay Sinha’s Net Worth, Education Qualification

His movable assets are valued at Rs 1.01 crore, and his immovable properties are worth Rs 3.20 crore. His spouse has declared total assets of Rs 7.40 crore, including business income, salary, rent and bank interest.
Sinha’s sources of income include his salary and allowances as a minister, along with earnings from agriculture, rent and bank interest. He holds a Civil Engineering Diploma from State Polytechnic Begusarai, completed in 1989 under the Science and Technology Department of the Bihar Government.
Lakhisarai Constituency
The Lakhisarai Assembly constituency, numbered 168, remains one of the BJP’s most secure seats in Bihar. Located in a largely rural and agricultural district, Lakhisarai is also known for industries such as fertiliser, pesticide and rice mills. The Bhumihar community, which holds strong influence in the area, has been a traditional supporter of the BJP, further strengthening Sinha’s position.
With his long political journey, ministerial experience and continued dominance in Lakhisarai, Vijay Kumar Sinha remains one of the strongest contenders for the BJP in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Election.
