Awadh Bihari Choudhary Profile: The Siwan Vidhan Sabha seat, established in 1951, has been one of the key constituencies in Bihar, with major parties putting together strong contenders to secure victory. One of the most prominent and senior candidates contesting for the seat is Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Awadh Bihari Choudhary, also known as Awadh Bihari Yadav.
The former speaker of the Bihar Vidhan Sabha has contested nine times from the Siwan Assembly constituency under different parties, with him winning five times.
The sitting MLA is set to contest in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 for Siwan against Mangal Pandey (BJP) and Inteqhab Ahmad (Jan Suraaj Party) as key contenders. The polls for the constituency are set in the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections on November 6.
Political Background:
Awadh Bihari Choudhary was elected as a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Siwan in 1985 and remained in power for four consecutive terms till February 2005. The Leader was defeated by the BJP candidate, Vyas Deo Prasad, in October 2005. Choudhary was re-elected from the Siwan Assembly constituency in 2020.

In 2022, the RJD MLA was unanimously elected the state legislative assembly speaker and was later removed in 2024 by a no-confidence motion moved by the NDA. Choudhary also served as the Education Minister of Bihar during the Rabi Devi government.

Awadh Bihari Choudhary completed his graduate degree in BSc from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar (BRA) Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, in 1970. The former minister was born on August 16 and is 78 years old. A resident of Siwan, the leader has one son and one daughter, as reported by the Daily Guardian.
