Bihar Election 2025 Voting Phase 1: The polling for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 concluded at 6 pm on Thursday. The voting for the phase 1 concluded with a provisional turnout of 60.25 per cent. However, the final numbers are awaited. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the highest turnout of 73.29 per cent was recorded in the Minapur assembly constituency, while the lowest turnout of 39.52 per cent was seen in the Kumhrar seat. For security reasons, polling in Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Mahishi, Tarapur, Munger, Jamalpur, and 56 polling booths of the Suryagarha Assembly segment ende at 5 pm.T

The main contest is between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan. Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj has also fielded its candidates on all 243 assembly seats in the state. Many high-profile candidates, including Mahagathbandhan's CM face Tejashwi Yadav, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Tej Pratap Yadav, Bhola Yadav, Mangal Pandey, Shravan Kumar, Khesari Lal Yadav, and Maithili Thakur are in the fray during today’s polling.

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), in the first phase, voting was conducted for 121 constituencies spread across 18 districts. With campaigning for the first phase concluding on Tuesday evening, today’s polling determined the political fate of 1,314 candidates, as over 3.75 crore voters exercise their franchise. The second phase of voting for 122 constituencies will take place on November 11, and the results will be declared on November 14.

    Voting took place for the first time after 20 years in the Naxal-affected area of Bhim Bandh in Bihar. 

    "We are feeling very good. I am very happy that all of you came here... I am feeling very good (to have voted here for the first time in 20 years)... Earlier, the situation was not favourable since 2005... Now, there is no fear. We have been living peacefully ever since the camp (security forces) was set up here. The government facilities are very good here. We have also been given free rations for a few years now, and we are grateful for that. We have no problems anymore. We are living peacefully in the jungle. We are happy that a polling booth has been set up here. Young and old, everyone is able to cast their vote," A local villager told the reporters. 

    A local villager, Neelam Kumari said, "I am feeling very good. Earlier, we had to cross the entire jungle and reach Gaay Ghat. Now it is nearby, it is convenient. The arrangements are good.
