With only a few days left in the first phase of counting ahead for the Bihar assembly elections 2025, the political atmosphere in Bihar is all charged up. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate on Saturday hit out at the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Choudhray, for misrepresentation of age in the electoral affidavit.

Shrinate has accused him of changing his age as per his convenience. Shrinate added that, earlier, there were questions around his degree, and now his age has also come under suspicion.

Holding a press conference in Patna, Shrinate raised a question on Choudhary's nomination not getting cancelled as he misrepresented his age in the affidavit. Shrinate said, “Samrat Choudhary has lied in his electoral affidavit about his age. He either increases or decreases his age based on his convenience. Earlier, there were questions around his degrees, but now it’s about his age - and he has lied this time.”

Congress also alleged that Choudhary kept changing his age to evade the 1995 murder case trial and accused the Election Commission of not doing anything in the matter.

How Choudhary Misrepresented His Age

The Congress, though an X post, alleged that in 1995, Choudhary claimed his age to be 15 and secured bail in a murder case. Congress added, in 1995, a murder case took place in Tarapur, in which Samrat Choudhary was involved. At that time, he submitted an affidavit claiming his age was 15 years, based on which he got bail.

The party further raised questions about Choudhary being 56, as his affidavit filed in 2010 claimed that he was 28 years old.

The political slugfest in Bihar has reached its boiling point with the upcoming Bihar assembly election 2025 around the corner. The first phase of the election will take place on November 6 and the second phase on November 11. The result will be declared after counting on November 14.
