Bihar Assembly Election Result 2025: Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is heading towards a massive victory in the Bihar Assembly polls, with the party leading in 19 out of the 29 seats it contested, according to Election Commission data as of 4 pm. Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), or LJP(RV), has emerged as the fourth-largest party in the 2025 Bihar Assembly results, positioning itself as the third largest within the NDA, behind the BJP and JD(U), as trends began to solidify by 4 pm.
This raises the question of whether Chirag Paswan might seek the Deputy Chief Minister’s post, while JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar is on track to take the top post for the ninth time.
Earlier this week, Chirag Paswan was asked about the possibility of claiming the Deputy Chief Minister role, to which he responded that his party would make a claim if the NDA secured a clear mandate.
Not only is the NDA heading towards an overwhelming victory, with nearly 200 seats secured in the 243-seat House, but the LJP(RV) is also winning more than 19 of the 29 seats it contested as part of the alliance.

"I have always believed that my strike rate is close to 100 per cent, and I expect the same result this time," Chirag Paswan told India Today, linking his performance expectations to the possibility of a Deputy Chief Minister post.
"I believe there should be respect in an alliance. If your partners are performing well, they should be rewarded," Paswan said.
When asked whether he would personally take up the role of Deputy Chief Minister, Chirag clarified, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already entrusted me with significant responsibilities at the Centre. Food processing has enormous potential, and I want to strengthen this ministry further.”
“Right now, I would not take the Deputy CM post. But yes, some leader from my party would definitely assume the role if we win,” he added.
The 2025 results mark a major comeback for LJP(RV) at the state level. Chirag Paswan’s party is leading in multiple constituencies, including Sugauli, Govindganj, Belsand, Bahadurganj, Kasba, Balrampur, Simri Bakhtiarpur, Bochahan, Darauli, Mahua, Parbatta, Nathnagar, Brahampur, Fatuha, Dehri, Obra, Sherghati, Bodh Gaya, Rajauli, and Gobindpur.
In the 2020 Bihar elections, the LJP(RV), then as the united Lok Janshakti Party, had contested on over 130 seats but secured victory on just one seat - Matihani assembly constituency. However, the MLA later switched to Janata Dal (United). The LJP candidates finished second in nine other constituencies.
Despite this, Chirag Paswan's campaign against Nitish Kumar ended up dividing the JD(U) vote, pulling the party's seat count down from 71 in 2015 to 43 in 2020, a drop largely linked to LJP's vote-cutting impact.
The LJP had then decided to quit the NDA in Bihar over seat-sharing disagreements with the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) and contested on around 135 to 143 seats alone.
Meanwhile, as counting progresses, projections indicate a strong and commanding lead for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), signalling what could be one of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's most decisive electoral victories.
The projections suggest that the renewed JD(U)-BJP partnership, backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's nationwide popularity, is steering the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) toward a sweeping mandate of over the 243 seat assembly.
The Nitish Kumar-led NDA has secured a combined total of 208 seats, with BJP leading in 95, JDU in 85, LJP 19, HAM 5 and RLM 4 as per data from the EC at 4pm.
