Bihar Elections News: Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav alias Rajesh Ranjan, allegedly spotted distributing cash to flood-affected families in Vaishali district, Bihar, which is an alleged violation of the model code of conduct (MCC) in the poll-bound state. As a video showing Yadav distributing cash went viral, the Member of Parliament came under the Election Commission’s scrutiny. Following the announcement of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the code of conduct came into effect across the state.

Patna Press reported that Yadav visited Ganiyari village, located under the Sahadoi police station, on Thursday amid the MCC restriction. The MP provided financial support to the families affected by riverbank erosion in the flood-affected region.

You Can Put Me In Jail: Yadav To CEC

In reaction to the incident, Yadav said no one can stop him from helping the poor, and he is ready to go to jail. In a post on X, he made a stern message to the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar, saying he and his DM may file case against him, and he would continue to distribute cash to the poor.

"Gyanesh ji, you and your DM can file as many cases as you want; for the help of the (Flood) victims, we will keep distributing as much money as our capacity allows! Helping the victims is a crime, then we will commit this crime. You can put us in jail or give us the death penalty, we will neither stop nor bow down!," he wrote on X.

'Ready To Play Any Role In Bihar for Congress: Pappu Yadav

Earlier, the Independent MP said he was ready to play any role the party gives him for the Bihar assembly polls, after a meeting with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi in July. Yadav also told reporters that the Congress had no shortage of faces for the post of chief minister in Bihar.

The Bihar assembly elections is scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, while votes will be counted on November 14, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced in Delhi earlier in the day.
