Bihar Elections 2025: With the Bihar Assembly elections weeks away, politicians jumped into a race to switch sides in anticipation of their electoral future in the upcoming polls in the state. While a former JD-U minister has joined the RJD, the BJP has also inducted an RJD MLA into its fold. This defection is likely to change the political dynamics in the state.

In the latest wave of defection, Laxmeshwar Rai left the JD-U and joined the RJD on Thursday. He was the state president of the Extremely Backward Classes Cell in the JD-U. RJD state president Mangani Lal Mandal and state general secretary Abdul Bari Siddiqui inducted him into the party.

After jumping off the ship, Rai described his previous party as junk. He alleged that the JD-U has deviated from the path of social justice and that the government is doing injustice to the Extremely Backward Classes.

Democracy and democratic rights are being crushed within the JDU, and the sentiments of its workers are being violated, Rai said, adding the ruling party is being run by people who want to usurp the rights of the poor, the exploited, the deprived, the backward, and the extremely backward classes. RJD state unit chief spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav and state spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed were present on the occasion.

RJD MLA Bharat Bind To Contest On BJP Ticket

On the other hand, RJD MLA from Bhabua, Bharat Bind, resigned from the Bihar assembly on Thursday. He will contest the assembly elections from the same constituency, but on a BJP ticket. He defeated BJP's Rinki Rani Pandey in the 2020 assembly elections.
