Bihar Elections 2025: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s star poll campaigner, Yogi Adityanath, addressed a public rally in Bihar's Saharsa on Thursday, where he sparked a 'burqa' row.

"The NDA is taking forward 'virasat' and 'vikas' in Bihar. Today, when development is being recognised, the Congress and the RJD have started a campaign that they don't want development, they want burqa, so that they can rob the rights of the poor by getting fake votes," he said at the BJP rally.

"Should fake voters be allowed to vote? The Congress and RJD want this to happen. A reason why they are making a big fuss over burqas. They have also been opposed to electronic voting machines (EVMs) because they want to restore the old system of ballot papers, which facilitated booth capture by their henchmen," Yogi asserted at the rally.

Yogi Mentions Lord Ram and Lord Krishna In His Speech

"During Congress's tenure, they used to question the existence of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. They used to let infiltrators enter the country, which led to anarchy. RJD only worked on the development of their family, not Bihar," he said, adding PM Modi says the country is his family, but Lalu ji says Rabri Devi's family is his only family.

The RJD cannot think beyond the family, but, the NDA works for the country, and Bihar's double-engine government is working towards the state's development, he said.

The UP Chief Minister also underscored the cultural affinity between Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, and said that "after the construction of a grand temple of Lord Ram at Ayodhya, the birthplace of Goddess Sita in Sitamarhi is all set for a facelift. We are also working on improving the connectivity between the two places".

Yogi called the mafia in his state "partners" of the RJD, and promised that under the NDA rule, "they will meet the same fate in Bihar".

He also slammed the RJD for "sitting in the lap of Congress", despite its founding president Lalu Prasad having cut his political teeth under legendary revolutionary leader Jayaprakash Narayan (JP), whose revolt ahead of the Emergency had galvanised the public, resulting in Indira Gandhi being voted out of power.
