Bihar Govt Formation LIVE Updates: Nitish Kumar Elected As JDU Legislature Party Leader, Decision On Deputy CMs Likely At BJP Meet

Nitish Kumar, along with several other ministers, will take the oath at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna on November 20. The ceremony is expected to begin at 11 AM in the presence of PM Modi and key dignitaries.

Nitish Kumar has been elected as the JD(U) legislature party leader. He will submit his resignation to the Governor in the evening.

The JD(U) legislature party meeting has begun at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's residence in which Kumar will be elected as the leader. 

Speaking to news agency PTI, JD(U) working president Sanjay Kumar Jha said that the process of forming a new government will begin in the evening after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar submits his resignation to the Governor.

The JD(U) legislative party meeting will be held at 11:00 AM in Patna, in which Nitish Kumar will be elected as the leader, followed by NDA legislative party meeting at 3:30 PM.

Nitish Kumar is set to take the oath as Bihar Chief Minister for the record 10th time on November 20 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Preparations are underway for the swearing-in ceremony.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be elected as the leader of the JD(U) legislative party at 11 AM and after that, leader of the NDA at 3:30 PM before submitting his resignation to the Governor, news agency PTI reported. 

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to submit his resignation today, November 19, following which the current assembly will be dissolved and the process of forming of new government will start.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Union Minister Satish Chandra Dubey said that the central leadership will decide who will be the Deputy CM and cabinet ministers.

“We have had a huge victory in Bihar. There is an atmosphere of joy. Several leaders will come and attend the ceremony... The central leadership will decide who will be the Deputy CM and Cabinet Ministers…” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several key figures are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on November 20. 

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal United (JDU) are scheduled to hold separate meetings today ahead of the NDA legislative party meet at 3:30 PM.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday went to the Raj Bhavan and submitted a letter to the Governor seeking the dissolution of current assembly on November 19. 

The BJP and JDU will hold separate meetings, which will then be followed by a joint meeting of the NDA legislature party at 3:30 PM in the Central Hall of the Assembly. 

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bihar chief Dilip Jaiswal on Tuesday said that the party will hold a key meeting on Wednesday, November 19, ahead of the oath-taking ceremony on November 20.

Ahead of the key meeting scheduled for November 19, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are finalising the list of ministers of the BJP and JDU, respectively. 

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on November 20 in the presence of key leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
