The Bihar government is set to improve the sanitation of its schools by allocating Rs 300 crore for professional cleaning services. This initiative will involve outsourcing housekeeping agencies to maintain cleanliness in all state-run schools.

Of the total budget, Rs 200 crore has been earmarked for primary and middle schools, while the remaining Rs 100 crore will be used for high schools. The hired agencies will be responsible for the upkeep of classrooms, restrooms, furniture (including tables, chairs, benches, and desks), and the overall school premises.

The education department has formulated guidelines for maintaining cleanliness and has directed district education officers to monitor and evaluate the performance of the housekeeping agencies regularly.

The agencies will be required to train their cleaning staff and provide them with the necessary cleaning supplies. Headmasters will oversee the usage of cleaning materials and ensure that the cleaning process does not disrupt school activities.
