The Bihar government has revised the minimum wage rates across all categories of workers, effective October 1, 2025. According to a notification issued by the Labour Resources Department on Wednesday, the new daily wage will be Rs 428 for unskilled labourers, Rs 444 for semi-skilled workers, Rs 541 for skilled workers, and Rs 660 for highly skilled workers.
The department clarified that the increase, ranging between Rs 4 and Rs 6 per day, has been made in the form of a dearness allowance. The last revision of the minimum wage was carried out in April 2025.

Meanwhile, Labour Resources Department Secretary Deepak Anand, while inaugurating the Bihar Food Sector Industry Meet in Patna, said the state is focusing on generating employment opportunities in the food processing sector through skill development. He noted that trained youth in this field could help Bihar emerge as a hub for the food industry, contributing significantly to the government’s target of creating one crore jobs.
During the event, Mission Director Manish Shankar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Subodh, representing the Mumbai Dabbawala, and Sachin, representing Sattuz, to strengthen industry partnerships. Labour Commissioner and Additional CEO of the Bihar Skill Development Mission, Rajesh Bharti, emphasised that skill training is crucial for driving employment and growth in the food processing sector.

The event also saw the release of a textbook for the Kushal Yuva Programme, developed by School Net, and the launch of a dedicated website.
